Desert Botanical Gardens Not to Be Missed

Botanical Gardens in the desert are certainly different than what we see at home. This time of year especially, there isn’t much colour as most plants are finished flowering until spring. But, the varieties of plants and species are fascinating, and at the Desert Botanical Gardens in Phoenix, until February 28th, the addition of colourful glass sculptures by Dale Chihuly spread among the cacti makes up for the lack of flower blossoms.

Tomorrow we’re pulling up stakes temporarily for a trip to Lake Havasu and then to Quartzsite. We’ll be without amenities so I’ll save my stories until we return in a few days.

  1. You captured the beauty of the desert botanical gardens well. Even without the glass art they would have been beautiful with the variety of shapes and colours of the flora and fauna. Thanks for sharing. Look forward to your return.

    • Oops! Thanks, Sarah. I should have looked that up, but Internet time is limited and I was sure someone had told me it was Michael. The signs only have the last name. Going to fix it now.:)

  2. the most beautiful Botanical garden I’ve seen was one of all Cacti in Australia –most beautiful blossoms. I didn’t realize that Cacti bloomed so profusely!

  3. Judy, what a coincidence. On one our trips to Calif. we spent a day in Phoenix and toured the Botanical Gardens. That was in June and it was a beastly hot day.
Have enjoyed following your trip. Drive safely.

    • I can imagine that it would be hot here in June. It has been perfect weather here at this time of year — quite warm in the day time and cool for sleeping at night.
